Good Deal or Wouldn’t Steal: 1973 Honda CB750 Custom

OK guys, check this one out! I was looking around for our new GDoWS post, and came across this bad boy on Craigslist.  This CB is a pretty interesting custom build.  The original ad is located here, and here is the description:

BEAUTIFUL ONE OF A KIND MOTORCYCLE. MANY HOURS OF HANDWORK DONE ON THIS BIKE. EXCELLENT CONDITION WITH ONLY 3,500 ORIGINAL MILES! SPENT MOST OF IT’S LIFE TRAILORED TO SHOWS. BEAUTIFUL PEARLESCENT SILVER COLOR, CUSTOM MUSTANG TANK, Z BARS, CUSTOM SEAT, FENDER, EXHAUST, HARLEY 15″ REAR WHEEL, AND MANY OTHER SMALL ITEMS. ELECTRONIC IGNITION. RUNS GREAT! I GET LOTS OF LOOKS FROM PEOPLE WHENEVER I RIDE IT. I PUT A SLIPSTREAM TOMBSTONE WINDSHIELD ON IT RECENTLY WHICH REALLY HELPS TO CUT THE WIND AND LOOKS GOOD. COMES ON AND OFF IN 3 MINUTES. REGISTRATION GOOD JUNE 2014. COULD EASILY BE CONVERTED TO CAFE STYLE OR CRUISER/CHOPPER STYLE OR LEAVE IT AND APPRECIATE IT AS IS. ASKING $5700 OBO
NO LOWBALLERS PLEASE. NOT THAT KIND OF BIKE. SERIOUS BUYERS ONLY.

The all capitals really helps get the point across.  If that doesn’t sell you on it, check out the pics below. What do you think…..is this ‘custom’ a  deal for $5700?

Somebody busted their ass on this thing and wants a little bit of their money back. Don’t know who their market is. “Asking” and “OBO” might invite a few “low-baller’s”. I might start at 2.5K if I actually wanted this east/west morphidite.

Ya somebody put a ton of work into it. I’m not a fan of the frame/gas tank at the front. I don’t like the Harley style rear fender either. Some nice parts on the engine though. I’d say this would move for $3000. $5700 seems steep for kind of a weird combination of mods.

This is the problem. The dude loves the bike. He put tons of time in it, and money. And he thinks it worth at least what he has in it, not the case here. It’s too “custom”. I agree with Evan, 3k tops, if the motor is good, the rest is scrap.

Agreed with above comments. Seller has obviously put a lot of TLC and solid engine, but man, that tank/frame is not appealing. Way overpriced – I’d rather buy 2 stock 750s for $5k. 🙂
